Luck FFA Member Wins State FFA Talent

Updated: Aug 12, 2019

Luck FFA Member, Cassie Johnson, competed in the State FFA Talent Competition on the opening day of convention. Her talent performance was a vocal and piano solo. Over 20 FFA members competed in the State Talent Program. Cassie received a Gold rating and placed in the top 5. She was then selected to play during a general session with an audience of over 3000 FFA members on Wednesday. At the last session, Cassie was announced as the winner of the State FFA Talent Competition.

Second place was captured by Melissa Konkel of the Big Foot FFA with a vocal solo. Performers receiving state gold will have the chance to represent Wisconsin in the National Talent Competition at the National FFA Convention in Indianapolis, Indiana this October. You can watch the video of Cassie performing on the Luck FFA Alumni or Luck Schools Facebook page.

On the way to Madison for the Wisconsin FFA Convention, Luck FFA members were able to tour Sassy Cow Creamery in Columbus. The creamery produces milk and ice cream from their own organic and conventional dairy herds. Duane Iverson and Josh Hildreth served as state delegates. They were able to vote for state FFA officer representing Section 1 and serve on a committee discussing ideas for the FFA.

The Talent Award wasn't the only award that Luck was bringing home. The Luck FFA chapter was recognized for earning the P.R.I.D.E. membership award for the past school year. One of the main goals of the Membership Committee has been to create innovative ideas to increase membership. The P.R.I.D.E. Award was designed to increase chapter membership participation by encouraging chapters to continually recruit and retain members in hopes that every chapter would increase by ten members each year. P.R.I.D.E. stands for Promote, Recruit, Inspire, Develop, and Educate. Josh Hildreth accepted this award on the stage.
