Rooted in Farming

Firestone Ag has supported the National FFA Organization for 75 years. To honor their heritage, Firestone Ag is kicking off FFA Week with the “Rooted in Farming” contest that encourages current and former FFA members to share their family’s personal history in farming and how their involvement in FFA has helped pave the way for future generations of farmers.

The contest is held during FFA Week in February. It is open to current FFA members that are 16 years of age and older, alumni, and advisors. Members can submit their entry through their website. One winning entry will receive a set of Firestone Ag tires (up to a $2,500 value) for their tractor. Three runners-up will each be awarded a $500 gift card towards Firestone Ag products. For every qualifying submission received, Firestone Ag will contribute $75 (up to $100,000 total) to the National FFA Foundation.

Gen Z Speaks Ag

Make your voices count for agriculture in the “Gen Z Speaks Ag” contest, sponsored by American Agri-Women and Bayer Crop Science as part of the “AgDay365: Ag Day is Every Day” campaign. This year’s theme is “Love Food, Don’t Waste it.”

In the U.S., food waste is estimated at between 30-40% of the food supply. Young advocates can help change this alarming trend.

The contest is open now for all youth ages 11-23 and submissions will be accepted until May 1, with the winners announced at American Agri-Women’s annual Fly-In to Washington, D.C. in June.

There are 3 contest areas including Photo, Video, or Special Events.

Prized for each division are

  • First prize – $500

  • Second prize – $250

  • Third prize – $100

The winners are also invited to be part of AAW’s inaugural Gen Z advisory panel. The goal is to collaborate with young advocates to learn about issues and concerns they have for agriculture, their careers, etc., so AAW can develop programming and policies for ag’s future leaders.
